Patmont's X-Sports Core Extreme Summer Games Review
Go-Ped
had a serious effect at the X-Sports CorExtreme Summer Games in Japan. This event
featured the best riders in Skateboarding, Inline, BMX, and now Go-Ped. We met
some awesome riders and celebrities such as 15 year old pro skateboarder Shaun
White and MTV Jackasss Wee Man.
At
first, vice president of ESPN Japan Maida-san and his staff were skeptical of
how the Go-Peds would put on a show. Much to there amazement, (but not ours!)
the Go-Peds stole the spotlight, combining skateboarding and BMX tricks and a
motor! He and his staff came up to us after the first of 4 street course shows
and one race, with hugs and hand shakes! I think part of the reason the Go-Peds
had such great crowd response was due in part that the other sports are getting
played out. With the newness, excitement, added roar of the motor,
and superb riding of our Pros, the crowds leaped to their feat and the cameramen
where locked on to us!
The
Go-Ped riders skied the main element of the street course on their Super X-Ped
Go-Peds, the 12 foot Super Table Top jump and reached a height of about 7 feet
off the jump or about 12 feet of the ground! The Go-Ped riders had the ability
to power out of the huge burm with momentum and horsepower like no other extreme
sport possible. This is Extreme Sports at a new level!
Later
in the shows after the riders did train runs, following each other through the
street course, Pro Factory Go-Ped rider, Ronnie Bartlett stole the show even more!
He did a gigantic ramp to ramp wall ride, massive tricks over the Super Table
that included a heel clicker, a fully extended Super Man deck grab, and even a
huge back flip over another human being!!!
On
the final day, we had an all terrain Bigfoot Go-Ped race on dirt, gravel, asphalt
and jumps!! Once again the riders put on a show! Brandon Currie, Ronnie Bartlett,
and reigning World and National champion, Tim Patmont, diced it out all the way
through the eight lap final. Brandon pulled the holeshot, but positions changed
faster than cars go down the I-5 freeway! Ronnie and Tim changed position every
lap, until Brandon went down on the back straightaway. Tim pulled out in front,
then Ronnie held the throttle wide open over one of jumps and took the lead. Then
Tim passed Ronnie again, on the inside of a corner and they tangled up. At that
point the crowd and the cameras ate this up, then Brandon passed them both!!!
At the end of the day, it was cool seeing the Pros on the stage receiving their
metals, in the spotlight with people cheering them on.
All
in all, it was an exciting weekend and Go-Ped made a name for itself, featuring
two of its amazing models, the Super X-Ped and the Super Bigfoot. Special
thanks to Rodney Johnson of Bullet Japan for setting up this wonderful event.
