Go-Ped®
future home is moving forward as planned.
Much thought and consideration is taking place for the plans and construction
of a new, purpose built facility in Nevada for the scheduled move set in September. Next
month PMW plans on having a ground breaking ceremony at the excellent, beautiful,
and business friendly location, 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe, at the Douglas County
Airport in Minden, Nevada (shown left) to symbolize a bright and strong future
for PMW and all of its products. Many improvements to our facility and processes
will be accomplished with this thoughtful move. We are
taking necessary action now to help insure that our customers will not have any
interruption to services or receiving products by taking a proactive approach
to the move by keeping our customer service division in CA. What that means to
you is that there will be no need to update your information, like phone and fax
numbers, to contact our customer service departments. Nor will you need to be
concerned with shipments of products as we have already begun to overstock supplies
of certain products in anticipation for the interruption of production during
the move. Related

refinements for March!
| by
Jim Robbins | top |
The
PMW engineering department is hard at work developing future products we can't
tell you about, but that doesn't mean we don't have time to refine the existing
product line. This month brings a few subtle changes that you and your customers
will benefit from:
-You probably already know that the
Super X-Ped® has a steel plate backing up the gas tank. The plate, which is
actually from the Liquimatic helps to support the gas tank from impacts on this
extreme model. Now that same plate has been added to the regular X-Ped® for
added durability! If you have any earlier customers who want to take advantage
of this improvement the plate (part number 5020) is available from the parts department
and can be added to any older X-Ped®. -We've
made a small change to the aluminum lower hinge fitting found on our non-Super
products. The part is being changed from black anodize to clear anodized for a
new silver finish, and to further improve on electrical killswitch grounding.
-Starting soon the 1/4-20 flat head deck mount bolts are
all going to be black zinc coated. This super durable coating will prevent rusting
and corrosion of the deck bolts when the scooter
is exposed to wet conditions. The new bolts look very similar to the old ones,
but if you look closely you will find that they have a shinier finish.
-We have already started shipping improved GSR 6 tooth sprockets (part number
GSR1004.1). Changes have been made to improve the wear and shear resistance of
the 6-tooth drive sprockets. This will actually be a two stage change. The sprockets
shipping now can be identified by their bluish color, which is from the hardening
process. In addition to being harder than the original part, they also have small
radii along the inside edges of the part. These radii reduce stress risers and
will help to prevent shear. Stage 2 of the change will further improve the strength
of the part. You will be able to identify these new sprockets by their more pointed
tooth profile and silver color. These newer parts have several more improvements
and will be available in several weeks. The part numbers all remain the same so
your ordering will be simple, and you will always get the most current part. Remember
that the ONLY way to insure good sprocket life is proper cleaning and lubrication
of the chain and sprockets. PMW recommends White Lightning lubricant, which is
available from the Parts department (part number 9150.)

& Consumer Responsibility for the Future of Motorized Scooters
|
by Tim Patmont | top |
Most
of you know by now that probably the biggest complaint about motorized scooters
is the noise that they can make when modified. There have been many complaints
over the years and some cities have even gone as far to ban the use of motorized
scooters within their city limits. This is quite unfortunate, because the possibilities
of low cost, fuel efficient, portable, personal transportation no longer has the
chance to flourish in those areas. PMW
has been very proactive on this issue. In fact, Go-Ped® Brand Scooters are the
quietest stand up motorized scooters in the world by far as sold in their original,
stock condition. Since 1985, all Go-Ped® scooters have come with the PMW innovated
secondary muffler system, where the primary muffler feeds into the frame, for
even quieter operation. No manufacturer of any motorized product treats it’s sound
emissions this way. All Go-Peds® also come standard with an air box that is designed
to muffle intake noise. Some of the newer “Stratified” models now come with an
even quieter air box design. Where the problem
usually begins is when people modify their scooters for either more noise or power.
This can be acceptable during closed course competition. The air box, muffler-connect
tube, and sometimes the primary muffler are the first things to go when people
want more speed. We are asking all scooter
dealers to protect the future of Go-Pedding® by educating their customers as to
the importance of this issue. If you know that a person will be using their scooter
in a neighborhood area, inner city, or any place that might disturb the public,
then perhaps they should maintain their scooter in the stock condition. If the
person is going to modify their Go-Ped® for racing purposes, then they should
have a scooter set up specifically for that purpose only, but not to be used in
a non-racing environment. Ask them to spread the word amongst their peers. We
can all make a big difference if together we frown upon a fellow rider who may
irresponsibly be giving the rest of us a bad reputation and squandered future.
Go-Pedding® is a way to express your freedom, but not when it infringes on
others freedoms of a peaceful existence. Please
take note of these tips on how to keep your scooter quite: 1.
Use the stock muffler 2. Keep your muffler connected to the frame 3. Use
the stock air box 4. Use a larger spindle or primary sprocket to let your
engine operate at lower and quieter RPM ranges 5. Although we recommend against
an expansion chamber, use a silencer if an expansion chamber is installed
6. If applicable, keep "Go-Snuffer" frame plug in place or replace when
missing. Check out this unique air filter
mod to make your Go-Ped® super quite: (courtesy of Southbay Landsurfing) http://www.landsurfing.com/faqpm.html#silencer Related

| First
Round of the IGPA Scootercross® Nationals a Success!
|
by Tim Patmont |
top |
| The
first round of the IGPA Scootercross® Nationals that was held in Mesa, AZ
March 14-16 was a great event! There were a few improvements that enhanced this
race over ones held in the past. For one, there was a new set of big double jumps
that most riders where allowed to roll while the Pros and Open Classes were allowed
to fly high over them! There was twice as many “tuff blocks” that made it much
easier to see the shape of the excellent track. The new Open Classes allowed all
brands to compete if they're engine size was below 30cc, 45cc, or 65cc for the
three respective classes. These classes were very exciting to watch. It was a
great showing for the Go-Peds® as they dominated in every class! Maybe next race
there will be some more competition. On Sunday, during the main events, it started
pouring! It was the call of the race director to continue racing, as there was
literally a small river of water flowing down the center of the track! It was
amazing to see the Go-Peds® working so well in these wet conditions! Everyone
had a great time, turning a potentially bad situation into a fun one! Even one
top female rider, Galixi Gorringe, raced in her bathing suit! All in all this
was a great event, with a 25% increase in racers from this same event from last
year. Special thanks to all the sponsors and racers that contributed to make this
event extra special.

Still getting FREE shipping
| by
Gabe Patmont | top |
| In
order to help speed up our order processing time we introduced a $19.95 Shipping
and Handling charge on orders under $100. There is still FREE shipping and handling
on all orders at or above $100. We are hoping that this will help reduce
the high numbers of order that are placed for just one or 2 parts and encourage
end users to get the parts they need from their local authorized dealer in their
area.
All authorized dealers are encouraged
to help get their PMW online "Authorized Go-Ped® dealer 5 star rating"
current and complete as soon as possible. The authorized Go-Ped® dealer finder
found on our website is the primary tool we use to help direct perspective customers
that inquire about our products to your store. Please call if you have any questions
regarding your 5 star rating. Related

Online order tips |

| From
the “Did You Know….” Department.
In the later
part of December 2002, PMW implemented a new system that integrated shipping records
with order processing. This has lead to many improvements, which this article
will highlight and advise you on how to make optimum use of these new enhanced
benefits: •An efficient backordering system
If your order includes a part that is currently
unavailable, the unavailable part will be backordered, and the balance of your
order will be shipped without delay. You will only be charged for the order that
was shipped, and not for the backordered parts, until these parts are actually
loaded onto the UPS truck. •The implementation
of the “Packing list” The shipping department now
also produces a “Packing List”, which is included with your shipment and does
not have any prices on it. The packing list is what is used to pack your order
and should be used to help you identify items in a particular shipment. •Dealer
Go-Shop: a convenient and timesaving tool for Dealers Once
you have logged onto the dealer Go-Shop, many features are available to you:
| | • Order online |
| | • Check prices &
part numbers | | | •
Get a detailed descriptions of parts containing their respective
applications and photos | | | •
View Status of orders | | | •
View Account Status | | | •
Reorder based on old invoices and/or orders | | | •Track

Notification | • Order online
Ordering from Patmont Motor Werks is fast, easy
and efficient. To make your selection of products: -
Click on the items you need to order. -
Indicate the quantity you need. -
Scroll down to bottom of page to click the buy button to put items in your shopping
cart. As you click the buy button your selection will be memorized. You can
access it anytime by clicking on “View Cart” (tab located at the bottom of the
page). By clicking Cont. Shopping, you can get back to category shopping and continue
adding items to your shopping cart. Once your selection is complete, click on
“Check out”. Once on the “shopping cart address and information” page, we invite
you to carefully check the accuracy of your billing and shipping information,
as well as your contact information. If these need to be amended, please contact
our Customer Service Department. Tips: On
this page, you can also store your credit card information so that every
time you go back to the Go-Shop, you can simply use the same credit card again,
without having to reenter your credit card information. To store your credit card
information on file, simply tick “remember credit card information". You
can also keep multiple cards on file, and every time you place an order, you can
select which credit card you wish to use. Once everything is checked, please hit
submit. You will be given shopping cart information, which we encourage you to
check and print for your records. •
Check prices & part number Once you have
logged into the dealer Go-Shop, you can scroll through the 5 different folders
to check parts and prices (“Blow out sale”, “What’s new”, “Go-Gear”, “Engine and
Motors”, “Scooter and Parts”). Most of these folders can also be expanded into
subfolders, simply by clicking on the + sign next to the folder. We invite you
to print a hard copy of the parts price list as it remains a good tool to refer
to. You can also check part numbers and prices by using the Product search option.
We would advise you to be quite general in your description and to use the “item
description” along with the “contain” options to get the best search results.
Tips: Price lists found on screen can be
printed from your local printer. We found the best way to do so is to highlight
the list of parts you wish to print and select print. Most printers have a "print
selection" option found in the print dialog box that open when you select
print. (Price list online are updated in real time so they are the most accurate
up to date list available but are subject to change from time to time) •
Get a detailed descriptions of parts containing their respective
applications and photos
Once a part is indicated on the screen, we invite you to
click on the part number which will give a detailed description of this part,
along with its applications or very often a photo of it. This is a great tool,
when, for example you are not quite certain about the suitability of a part for
a specific kind of California Go-Ped® brand scooter, or when you may be uncertain
about what a kit may include exactly. • View
Status of orders The Go-Shop also enables you to access all your invoices
with Patmont Motor Werks. Click on the "open order" link found at the
bottom of page. Now by clicking on the order number, you can view all the information
related to this invoice number (what were the relating order numbers, the costs
of parts, your total amount paid, etc…). • View
Account Status The Go-Shop also enables
you to access all your invoices with Patmont Motor Werks. Click on the "invoice"
link found at the bottom of page. By clicking on the invoice number, you can view
all the information related to this invoice number (what were the relating order
numbers, the costs of parts, your total amount paid, etc…). Note: Once an order
has been processed and shipped, it becomes an “invoice” •
Reorder based on old invoices and/or orders By
accessing your order history on the Go-Shop, you can see all the orders that have
been completed, canceled or put on hold. If for example, an order was canceled
for some technical reason, you can still access it and reorder everything you
had on order by simply clicking “Add All Items to Shopping cart:” This can also
be achieved by accessing the invoice detail screen (Click "Invoice"
link at bottom of page), or open order screen (Click "Open Order" link
found at bottom of page) which also allows you to duplicate any previous order
that you may have placed. Tips: Once you
click on the “Add All Items to Shopping cart”, all
items will be placed in your shopping cart and you can continue shopping if there
are still items you need. •Track shipment While
in the online Go-Shop you can click on the Invoice link found at the bottom of
the page. Clicking the invoice number will give you the detail of the invoice.
In the detail screen you can click on the package tracking number to get all tracking
information regarding that shipment. Tip: From the invoice screen you can
see all your invoices and can quickly click on any invoice in question and track
the shipment. •Email Notification Once
an order has been shipped, we will send you a notification via email. You can
take the invoice number from the e-mail and go to www.goped.com and click on the
"Track your Go-Shop Order" link found at the bottom of the home page
of www.goped.com. This will lead you directly to the online tracking details of
your shipment on www.ups.com. Please, also note that orders are shipped via UPS
ground, free of charge. If your order needs extra priority and needs to be shipped
by a faster service (additional shipping charges will apply), you can add special
shipping and handling comments in the comment line when you order online. Also,
feel free to call us to ensure that your order gets all the attention it deserves.
We hope you find these on-line features convenient and
helpful. If you have any questions or comments about the Dealer Go-Shop, please
contact Grant West at twest@goped.com or
