Advertised Price Policy - “MAP” - applies to all PMW products

In
2002, Patmont Motor Werks established a Minimum Advertised Price
Policy, often referred to as MAP. While each dealer remains free
to unilaterally establish its own resale prices and terms with respect
to any PMW product, each dealer shall advertise all PMW products
at or above MAP.
Patmont
Motor Werks has built a strong reputation for the quality of its
premium products and has reached high recognition for its brand
name, California Go-Ped®. MAP pricing prevents PMW products from
being advertised “cheaply” and therefore suffering from a diminished
Perceived Value.
We would like to stress the fact to all our valued dealers that
this policy applies to all PMW products, as clearly stated in your
dealer license agreement. Not only PMW Scooters but also PMW parts,
engines, engine parts and accessories are subject to MAP.
If
you are uncertain about MAP pricing on parts and scooters or need
more information on this topic, please feel free to contact Anne-Cecile
at moratina@goped.com
We
thank you for your support.

Recently a special Saturday bus trip was planned and sponsored by
PMW for employees wishing to visit the new factory location and
community, 15 miles East of Lake Tahoe, in the Carson Valley near
Minden Nevada. Three generations of Patmonts were along for the
trip including the new one year old grandson "Tyler the Smiler".
It was a beautiful spring day, and pleasant drive
over the magnificent snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains. Thanks
to the good folks at Coldwell Banker, upon arrival, we were all
treated to an amazing lunch in a Basque restaurant in Gardnerville
on one table longer than the bus.
Then,
with Reno's Channel 8 Nevada News station recording the event, we
went to the new building site for an informal ground breaking ceremony.
Over 65 people were in attendance with about a dozen shovels for
a historic photo op on our new and beautiful factory building location.
The employees were then given a tour of neighborhoods,
schools, and community points of interest before we headed back
home over those majestic mountains. That evening when we got to
Stockton we pulled over for a bus load of pizza and sodas.
The
factory is expected to open its doors in September 2003 and PMW
employees used their short stay in Nevada to take advantage of the
trip to start thinking about their personal move to the new location.
The
new location will have state-of-the art equipment and processes
that will be used to further increase the strength of the PMW brand
through enhanced cost effective productivity, customer services,
and an improved working and business environment.
PMW thanks its dealers for also coming along on
this exciting future enhancing adventure.

|
by Scott
Bolton
| top |
|
We
are very pleased to invite you to our May Dealer Service Training
seminar, which will be held at our sunny Livermore, California Go-Ped®
campus on May 8th & 9th, 2003.
At the same occasion, we would highly recommend
those coming for the dealer training to stay overnight in San Francisco
and take the great opportunity to participate in the San Francisco
Hill Climb Challenge / scooter race on May 10, 2003 (More information
is available at www.igpa.net
and http://www.sfscooter.com/peaks_hill_climb.html)
We hope that completion of this class will answer any of the questions
you may have had for some time. If you are not too familiar with
our family, our product line and all their idiosyncrasies, this
seminar should be a wonderful learning experience for you. If you
also feel you need additional training on two-stroke knowledge,
we will be very happy to share with you some additional two-stroke
theory during this training.
If you need to purchase airline tickets, we recommend
the Oakland Airport, as it is the closest to our facilities. Please
see the attached map. Most tickets are also cheaper with a Saturday
stay over. This might be a great opportunity for you to enjoy
some of the many things the Bay Area has to offer.
Feel
free to contact us anytime if you need any help to organize your
trip for this California Go-Ped® Dealer Service Training or have
any other inquiries. We are very much looking forward to meeting
you and we thank you for having chosen to take part in our dealer
training program production during the move.

| Improvements
for Spring!
|
by
Jim Robbins
| top |

Just
in time for spring we are introducing an exciting change on all
of our X-ped, GOX, Super X-ped, Super BF, and Interceptors, a new
t-bar clamp! This new "Pro Clamp" provides an extremely strong grip
on the handlebar, even though it is lighter than our old robo-stem
clamp. It will begin shipping soon on all of these products, and
it will retrofit onto any of your customers' older scooters too!
It is available from our parts department as part number #2027.
(Some of you may have already seen this clamp in our new Super Sport
Homebuilder's Kit.) One detail you'll appreciate is that the new
clamp uses the same size metric hardware as the new Pro Brake Levers
which we introduced last month. That means that with one 5mm allen
wrench you can adjust almost everything on your customer's T-bar.
In other news we've simplified the brake cable part numbers for
the GSR. From now on there will only be one part number for both
front and rear cables on GSR, and Interceptor models. Part #GSR1030
will cover all GSR applications. When installed on the front of
a scooter you will have to cut the housing and cable to fit. All
other scooters will continue to use the standard brake cable, part
#1054.

| The "Bling" Factor
|
by Tim Bushman
|

|
|

New for this year is a more focused effort on the appearance and
attention to detail that will further set us apart from the competition.
We've implemented a polishing process to our Magnesium wheels, slide
tube rings and Bothy Bigfoot fork bushings. In addition, We've
added a new piece of machinery in our sheet metal shop which has
enabled us to improve our steel brake disks. Starting soon you will
notice a subtle crosshatched design etched into our disks. The graining
looks cool, and also improves braking by providing a consistent
surface finish. The disks are otherwise unchanged, and can be retrofit
to any older scooter. The part number is still #8003.
All these improvements will bring the "bling"
into your showroom and further enhance the appeal to your customers.
We are constantly working on further improvements to our product
line making it clear that the " Made in the USA" sticker is displayed
with pride.

Motorbike and Scooter Show– March 7-9, 2003 – Dublin, Ireland

From March 7 to 9, 2003, Patmont Motor Werks, the Irish California
Go-Ped® Factory - Go-Ped® Europa, Team Go-Ped® and Planet Fun (Irish
Go-Ped® Dealer) teamed up during the 3 day Irish Motorbike and scooter
show in Dublin, Ireland.
The California Go-Ped® products
were for the first time and with great success introduced to the
general public in Ireland.
The professional look of
the Go-Ped® booth shared with our Irish Go-Ped® dealer, Planet Fun,
and the performance of Professional riders from Team Go-Ped® contributed
to making this event an overwhelming success.
Huge Irish crowds stood
in astonishment during the hourly performances of professional riders
Willie Hollywood Handy, Brandon Curry, Chris Call and Kevin Kiraly,
who demonstrated the most extreme Go-Ped® tricks in the California
Go-Ped® Stunt area. The success of Team Go-Ped® also contributed
to high public exposure through the Irish media, in print, radio
and TV. Gerry Ryan, the most famous Irish Radio show Host, interviewed
Steve Patmont and Willie Hollywood Handy live on the 2FM Gerry Ryan
show. Kevin Kiraly and Willie Handy were also guests of the Den,
a children's entertainment program on Irish TV, while Ireland was
woken up by live performances of Team Go-Ped® on the “Breakfast
program” in the Network 2 TV studios.
Patmont Motor Werks would
like to thank all the people who made this successful event possible:
Team Go-Ped®, Planet Fun, Go-Ped® Europa and the organizers of the
Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show. We would also like to thank the
Irish people for their very warm welcome. We are all very much looking
forward to coming back again next year.

& Consumer Responsibility for the Future of Motorized
Scooters
|
by
Tim Patmont
|
top
|
Most
of you know by now that probably the biggest complaint about
motorized scooters is the noise that they can make when modified.
There have been many complaints over the years and some cities
have even gone as far to ban the use of motorized scooters within
their city limits. This is quite unfortunate, because the possibilities
of low cost, fuel efficient, portable, personal transportation
no longer has the chance to flourish in those areas.
PMW has been very proactive
on this issue. In fact, Go-Ped® Brand Scooters are the quietest
stand up motorized scooters in the world by far as sold in
their original, stock condition. Since 1985, all Go-Ped® scooters
have come with the PMW innovated secondary muffler system,
where the primary muffler feeds into the frame, for even quieter
operation. No manufacturer of any motorized product treats
it’s sound emissions this way. All Go-Peds® also come standard
with an air box that is designed to muffle intake noise. Some
of the newer “Stratified” models now come with an even quieter
air box design.
Where the problem usually begins
is when people modify their scooters for either more noise
or power. This can be acceptable during closed course competition.
The air box, muffler-connect tube, and sometimes the primary
muffler are the first things to go when people want more speed.
We are asking all scooter dealers
to protect the future of Go-Pedding® by educating their customers
as to the importance of this issue. If you know that a person
will be using their scooter in a neighborhood area, inner
city, or any place that might disturb the public, then perhaps
they should maintain their scooter in the stock condition.
If the person is going to modify their Go-Ped® for racing
purposes, then they should have a scooter set up specifically
for that purpose only, but not to be used in a non-racing
environment. Ask them to spread the word amongst their peers.
We can all make a big difference if together we frown upon
a fellow rider who may irresponsibly be giving the rest of
us a bad reputation and squandered future. Go-Pedding®
is a way to express your freedom, but not when it infringes
on others freedoms of a peaceful existence.
Please take note of these tips
on how to keep your scooter quiet:
1. Use the stock muffler
2. Keep your muffler connected to the frame
3. Use the stock air box
4. Use a larger spindle or primary sprocket to let your engine
operate at lower and quieter RPM ranges
5. Although we recommend against an expansion chamber, use
a silencer if an expansion chamber is installed
6. If applicable, keep "Go-Snuffer" frame plug in
place or replace when missing.
